Paper Amulet with Buddhas
Last weekend I decided on the spur of the moment to visit some galleries in Chelsea (more on that another time). I also stopped at one of my favorite places, the Rubin Museum. I drew some Buddha faces, something I always like to do when I visit.
When I came home I compared them with some other drawings I had done at the Rubin. Buddhas, yes, but also an interesting sketch labeled “paper amulet”. I decided to make one, based on my not-very-descriptive notes. Yes, I had origami paper, and of course plenty of embroidery floss.
Later I tried to find paper amulets on the internet, without too much success. Nothing that matched my sketch anyway.
