Ode on an Asian Urn

An Asian patient of my husband gave us one of these enamel urns a long time ago, saying she would leave us the other one in her will. A short time later she brought in the other one. A week later she went into congestive heart failure and expired. I guess she had a premonition of her death. Today I attempted a watercolor of the piece.

Here is the piece. It is highly textured and difficult to catch in watercolor:

Such a beautiful piece of potter, and I love your rendition, too! But, what an eerie story. O.o

The urn is exquisite. Your drawing is beautifully done. Premonition perhaps but what a tribute to her great doctor too. You know we love him.

Cool urn. Interesting story. At least she didn’t give you the 2nd urn after she died with her ashes in it.

Not an easy subject to paint – you did fabulous! I’m not sure I would have tackled it myself. Very lovely details. šŸ˜Š

Very nice drawing, and so challenging. Lovely cloisonne, a most thoughtful and sincere gift.

I think stories make things more beautiful. Your colors give the vase a lovely luminosity that complements the feelings associated with the gift.
