Self Portrait #5 (after Matisse)
My second Matisse-inspired portrait. He did many drawings in this simple linear style.
It’s not as easy as it looks.
You can see all the portraits so far in this 100 Portrait Project here.

I really like these. The simplicity is deceptive–I believe that. Makes me want to try it. Nice job, Kerfe.

Didn’t you do some portraits like this once? I seem to remember it.

Yes! That’s right. You have a good memory. I was sort of pleased with those.

This is excellent work and I agree:much harder than it looks. Way to go, Kerfe!

It was a challenge to draw so simply. Good to try different things.

This is great…that isn’t as easy it Matisse made it look, but then you went and made it look easy again. A double deception. I like it Kerfe! 😉😃❤️

Thanks! Matisse did so many things well, and his simple drawings are so expressive.

Yes, it really is amazing just how expressive something so clean and simplistic can be.

I don’t think i quite got it, what is special about this portraits ? (I mean, why are they difficult to make), i’m guessing it had to do about that Matisse thingy that i didn’t get x)
Beside that, i like the simplicity of it, nice portraits 😀

I just meant that doing a drawing with a few simple lines looks easier than doing one that has lots of lines and color, but actually it’s not. (Or maybe for you it is.)

Oh, like a recognizable portrait ? Yep, that’s a lot more difficult to do with just a few lines 😮
