#Inktober: Masks

kongo mask comp

When I was at the Met last week I also stopped in to see the Kongo exhibit.  These shaman’s masks attracted my attention.  As I was drawing them a woman next to me summed it up:  “Spooky”.

Thanks Jodi. The lighting was very dramatic, which helped with the shadows. In fact the whole exhibit was quite dark, with selected lighting. Definitely spooky.
