Long Ago and Far Away…
I know Teresa said she would link my recent self-portrait post for selfie day, but I feel like I need to post something appropriate today too. I haven’t done any new self portraits, but I found this painting from the 70s. Must have been during my perm days, since my hair looks a bit fluffy. Around the time my brothers came to visit me in New York for Thanksgiving and we made lasagna instead of turkey. My mother never got over that, every year at Thanksgiving she would bring it up…miss you mom, miss you dad. Still have the stories and the smiles they bring.

Yes it is! I hope to get back to more regular painting. I’m always saying that, I know…

Aw, nostalgic! I love lasagna and we used to have it at Christmas when my mom made her famous dish. Happy Thanksgiving! Such an appropriate selfie for this week.

Awh! Love the painting from years ago – and knowing you have had art in your heart and soul all these years and love the sweet memories of your brother, lasagna and parents! 🙂

Thanks Jodi. Break in art life for children, but it’s nice to get back (with Nina’s help). Happy Thanksgiving! Pies tomorrow.

Your painting is a bold statement! I like the activity of brush strokes.
I’ve been sitting this morning remembering Family Thanksgivings. This will be the first one with out my folks. Many fond memories.

Great self portrait!! When looking back I wonder what we were thinking, perming our hair?? Happy Thanksgiving!

I know, what were we thinking? is right. Luckily it was too hard to maintain, and I lapsed happily back into the straight hair I was born with. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

That is my favourite of all selfies! Interestingly, I lived in NY from 1974-1980 leaving just weeks before John Lennon was shot…

Thank you. Perhaps I will really start painting again one of these days.
I saw Lennon once, running for the subway. And just last year I saw Yoko at the Museum of Modern Art.
I moved here in 1971 to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology, not intending to stay at all…time has its way with us. New York has changed a lot, and so have I!

I met him in Canada when he was performing with three others… my uncle gave me the ticket and I had no idea who I was going to see. What a memory! Yes, time has its way with us. For you New York for me the south of France. 🙂
