Call and Response: Refilling the Moon

call and response full moon text

Writer’s Quote Wednesday asked us to think about rebirth.  And what more appropriate symbol than the moon?

the full moon called
with his
large, muscular lips,
“see everything
become nothing”

Once again, I’ve been inspired by Claudia McGill to respond to her artwork and words.  (You may note, Claudia, that my junk mail piece was monoprinted before it was collaged.  I plan to explore this method further.)

You can see all the call and response collaborations with Claudia here.

Absolutely fantastic! I see a purple moon. Boy I get homesick for Jo when I see a piece like this. But she is here in this piece. Thank you, Kerfe.

This is kind of spooky, the moon thing, both of us, today. Thanks once again for all the nice things you say about my work, and the immense compliment you are paying me. And I love seeing what extension/response my original piece brings up in you – that the creativity flows from one person to another.

And monoprinting, I am happy you like it, because I think it’s a technique with such a wide range of possibilities, by itself or with other things, like collage.

And then there are your words. Expresses a remoteness that is almost nihilistic (? I hope I’m using the right word.) Wow.

I’m so glad you like it! As I keep saying, your work is endlessly inspiring to me.
Ah, the words…nothing uplifting seemed appropriate, although I certainly tried steering it that way. In the end I think nature has no preferences, it just is…full and then empty and then full…and wow! That’s a lot of magic. Gandhi knew.

Beautiful. Yes, you are right, what could be more perfect for “rebirth” than the moon?

Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s hard to get
that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual
appeal. I must say you’ve done a very good job with this.
Additionally, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Firefox.
    Superb Blog!
