Celebrating Fathers

dad and grandpa s

fathers of fathers
a photograph, a silence—
echos enduring

My father and his father from a favorite photo–circa World War II.  Must have been right before my father left for Europe.

My grandfather remained in the States for the Second World War.  He also served in WWI.  He lived to 102, almost making it into his third century.  His great-grandchildren are lucky to have real memories of a person, not just a photo and a name.

    A lovely portrait and tribute.
My grandfathers were both in the 90s when they died, but it was still before my daughters could know them. I hope they have some memories of my dad.
