Lawyers Guns and Money

“What am I going to tell 49 grieving families?” an emotional Senator Bill Nelson, Democrat of Florida, asked after the votes. “I am going to tell them the N.R.A. won again.”

You may remember the mandala, above, that I posted on the anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings.  The haiku is from a past post about violence around the world, and how we often don’t even notice anymore.

It’s true, we can’t stop every shooter.  But we can stop some of them.  Many of them, in fact.  Who is the boss of you, Senators?

How do you sleep at night?

The collage is beautiful–but the reason for it is so awful. Thank you for this post.
I was listening to an NPR program yesterday on connections between mass shootings and domestic violence. The guest said that most mass shootings (defined by the FBI as more than 4 victims, I believe) took place in homes.

I heard that someplace too. Shootings as a result of domestic violence are a huge problem. And most gun deaths in the US are suicides. That number could definitely be reduced with gun regulations.

Thank you, Kerfe. We no longer have a govt. by and for the people. “We” are by and for the corporation, bought and paid for. In most cases, with a few exceptions. I’m not telling you anything new, but I thank you for this post. Pretty sure no one needs an assault weapon to hunt or to defend one’s family. Why do they even exist, outside the military? I will never understand this. Are there 49 pieces to your collage? I tried, but lost count.

The boss of them is the NRA. Pure and simple. Unbelievable that all those 52 Republicans vetoed that bill. I’m sick over it.

VR headsets to make them experience the trauma. That’s what’s needed.

Incredible that our country is so lost and so many are so dangerously stupid. Wonderful tribute and thanks for putting the spotlight on what matters.

From someone halfway around the world, I can understand the pain and frustration. My heart ached while I read the names of the victims. So sad.

Great post on such a troubling situation. Its endlessly sad that we as a country can’t move forward and continue to let these horrible events happen over and over. Politician, NRA…guilty and shallow shits. (Sorry)
