Beach I Ching 13
#38 K’uei Opposition
There is really no “us and them”–it’s all “us”.
–The Quotable I Ching
“The reverse side also has a reverse side.”
–Japanese proverb
no
movement
possible
diverging parts
dance of opposites
each becomes the other
the small looms large balancing
blinding light with silent singing
reconciliation in wonder
It’s been quite awhile since my last Beach I Ching–last December in fact. I took more photos at the beach this year, but I haven’t even gotten to the ones I took in 2015. Still working on the arrangements from two years ago.
But they always seem to hit the spot. Plenty of opposition to go around in the world right now. K’uei is a good meditation for these times.
The poem uses the Secret Keeper’s prompt words from this week
| MOVE | SMALL | WONDER | DANCE | PART |

Beautiful designs and words–much to think about here!

So true. I see the “war” between man and the environment in this post. Love all of your beach work. ❤

I will remember “us” today. The only way to see life in our universe.

So true, Sharon. If only we could remember it more often.

I don’t pretend to understand eastern philosophies, but I see the balance in this.

The I Ching can be very confusing, which is why I always read a bunch of different translations/interpretations. The idea of “opposition” is pretty clear, but perhaps how to deal with it is not…but balance is a good goal, I’d say.

Beautiful collage, very thought provoking. Love the I Ching photograph, and the addition of the verse is a nice balance.

Thanks Haunani. The shells work well to make an I Ching I think.

Being cut off from news and the online world for a while, with only friends and nature for company, I’ve felt sort of shell-shocked since coming home and jacking back into the machine. Looking at this baffling world through your collages and poems is always inspiring but I just love how you interpreted that hexagram. I also really really like that Japanese proverb. 🙂

Thanks Sunshine, I love that proverb too. Don’t get immersed in the digital world too quickly! Savor that time away.

I love the movement–visually and through the words–and the last three lines are especially gorgeous.

Beautiful! I’ve just found your “Beach I Ching” posts … and notice that you’ve referenced my blog, The Quoteable I Ching. Your approach is lovely — the combo of found objects, imagery, and wordplay. Thank you, memadtwo! I’ll keep reading …
