Postcard Fiction: On the Other Side
All sleep ends up on the other side
There’s a turning point that takes everything everywhere
outside of time and space
poised on the edge of nowhere
Jane Dougherty’s Sunday Strange microfiction prompt, a painting by Hans Thoma.

Even dinosaurs sleep and their dreams end up mixed with ours. Could be the answer to the enigma.

The unreality of the colors and strange flatness of the perspective is what first struck me about the painting. Could definitely be the dinosaur’s dream.

It’s like an old-fashioned illustration from a children’s picture book. What on earth the story was though…

Love this–more in-between spaces. I also like Jane’s thought of the dinosaur dreams mixed with ours.
The painting is so odd, and it’s off-putting to me. I find it kind of creepy.

Thanks Merril. It’s definitely off-putting. Which is what made me see it as a dream landscape. The idea of mixing dreams is a good one, especially inter-species combinations!
