Evolution of a Hot Mess

Sometimes a painting just doesn’t work out. This is one of those times.

It started out innocently enough. Easter egg colors and and abstract composition, nothing wrong with that.

It seemed bland and it needed contrast so I started messing with it.

Maybe a little better but just not right. Did a black and white filter on it: pretty awful.

Oh well. Not every painting has to be a masterpiece. Featured image is the finished one; I added big swaths of black but that didn’t really help either. An example of the process, folks!

I do kinda like how it started best too :), but oh can I relate to this – going too far!!! Thanks for sharing!

The black and white is like a surrealist noir, coming out of a forest to see a cityscape to the distant left.

But did you have some fun while creating? Love all the color!

You know me…I would collage on top, or stitch, or cut it up and rearrange it. But I actually like the black and white version. The textures juxtaposed with the solid areas give it a lot of dimension. A windy day, I’d say. (K)

Funny, I like the black and white one too. Back to the drawing board. Maybe I’ll try cutting this one up.

I think it’s wonderful! You could have stopped a little earlier…but these things really get the creative juices going. Just start again!
