Black Hole Sun (for Chris Cornell)

black hole sun s

All is black,
disguising the hole
in the sun.
The light won’t
swallow the scream inside you.
Songs still.  Won’t you come

around and
penetrate, cleanse, wash
time away?

Prayer eclipsed by Hell, the
wind stealing you gone.  The rain.

The storm. Whole.  Black.

black hole sun s

Another voice lost far too early, this time to suicide.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, claiming the lives of over 40,000 Americans every year, 50% of these with guns.

You’ve described the depths of depression that lead to suicide so well. And thanks for also posting places that can help. There is no energy to find those places when you really need them.

The black hole of depression steals too many…thanks for sharing that HELP is available because suicide is a desperate cry for help.

Nice description of the light seeming to not follow the scream inside the depressed person although I think the light is always there. Depression is like a storm that doesn’t seem to end. I also liked the title referencing black holes.

Thanks. We have the music, but he could have given us so much more. There have been both suicides and attempts in my family, and it’s a difficult and painful road.

Pain is such a powerful deterrent
    It takes and never gives
I know what it all feels
    Like,more than I wish
To say,I am a survivor of suicide
Every time I hear about another
A little piece of me dies
    metaphorically
    Great post
    Excellent work

The painting and the poem are amazing as I listen to Chester Bennington singing One More Light. The soul is crushed when such genius filled with sensitivity are stolen from us. I will listen to Chris Cornell along with his best mate Chester Bennington. What a loss . both so deep in their soul they bring forth such heart felt words and music. RIP CC & CB
