Fragile
Does air envy wings?–
joyful dance of filtered light–
song of whispered wish
My Rorschach paintings often remind me of winged creatures. Here I’ve taken one I did in greys and manipulated it in Photoshop to create (I hope) and effect of filtered light through wings.
The inspiration is from two sources: Jilly’s “28 Days of Unreason” prompt “such fragile wings”, and Colleen’s Poetry Challenge this week. Her words were hate and pride; I scoured thesaurus.com and came up with envy and joy as synonyms.
I’ve got another haiku starting with a similar question for tomorrow (plus another Rorschach painting).

I don’t think it does. They share the same qualities (vata dosha). I am practicing my novice ayurvedic knowledge here, but reading air then wings and thinking flight, I immediately thought vata.

Thanks Mek, you always give me more to think about! Flow and motion are certainly present in both air and wings, although one is directly visible, and one indirectly. Hmm. I need to ponder.

Yes! Flow and motion…glad to give you something to think about as you did for me with your post 😊

I think the greater question is Does air envy wings? Wings, by nature’s design, are connected to the mind of the wing owner (bird, insect) which has a will to use the wings according to the needs of the body. (Back to Ayurveda – the mind heals the body.) The air or wind, has no will or mind, it is driven by other elements of nature. Boy, we are getting into a bit of philosopy here, aren’t we?

What a great discussion! Ayurveda from my understanding is not limited to the mind as healer- food, environment, and all senses and sensations can heal. Everything has a dosha, including food, wind, colours etc…so where I was coming from as pointing out that wind and flight/movement share the same quality or dosha (vata). Envy is usually for what we don’t have.

True. They do share those qualities. I guess I was looking at it from the perspective of which I would rather be – air or wings. The quality they don’t share is will / mindfullness, which is the source of healing so often. Disclaimer: NOT an expert on Ayurveda! 🙂

Qualities of vata (cool, rough, dry, anxious, dynamic, light…) can be ascribed to both in ayurveda…will and mindfulness tend to be pitta. I’m no expert either…just a keen student who has a lot yet to learn 😂😂

Well, you’ve both left my mind reeling! I will definitely have to investigate Ayurveda further…

Lovely haiku. I’m not sure about the question–I’ll have to ponder–but I the lines are beautiful, as are the images–wings and light.

Yesterday… so, like, one day.
No wonder I miss you when you vacation. And both of your work always stand out on Reader, and pretty much always make me smile.

I like the grey and yellow ones. They have a look of soft , fuzzy texture which reminds me of moths

Interesting question in your Haiku (which I love). And your accompanying artwork is also lovely. They do suggest light through wings! 🦋
