Dragon’s Lair

dragon light and dark

Do you hear the voices
of dragons?Β  Do you dream fire
and water, treasure and storm?

Does your heart provide a mirror
to burn away the veil?

Again and again you seek the
fields of forgiveness, hand held
hostage by the lair of sleep.

A quadrille of dreaming for dVerse, using this week’s words from The Secret Keeper.

Great verse and paintings! Particularly like the latter painting, from one perspective it’s like a Dragons eye, staring out at you, from the other it could be more like a Chinese Dragon, long, wingless, and flying silhouetted in the sky…

This is magical. The poem is like an old legend, and the paintings–I really like watercolor on rice paper. Yours have a more intense feel. I like the top one–it makes me think of the dragon dream.

Thanks Merril. Those words really did seem like they demanded something magic. I use liquid watercolors, and they somehow gain even more intensity on rice paper. I also wet the paper. It’s fun to play and see what happens…

the first seemingly a dragon of black bones (don’t want to run into that one in a dream), the second conjures the Ouroboros (my new learned word for the day) — the serpent (dragon) consuming itself, the cyclic nature of things so that “Again and again you seek” and again and again…

Nice art to complement the poem. I liked the middle stanza about the heart providing a mirror to burn the veil. Being in a dragon’s lair should be unnerving.
