Step by Step/Sky Quilt
Darkness or blueness?
up ladders or out windows?
the signs point nowhere
Toss the coin—heads and tails meet
helixed on the other side
I’ve returned to On the Road’s “Step by Step” prompt. Still asking questions, still attempting to climb.
The sky quilt collage is an old one that I’ve had mounted on my filing cabinet with magnets for a long time. I recently clipped it to a pants hanger and hung it in the hallway outside my office, an inexpensive alternative to framing.
You can see my first response to this prompt here.

Asking questions and attempting to climb–that’s the meaning of life, isn’t it?
I love the blues, with the black edges or delineations?
I thought at first that the top photo showed 3-D images–like pillows or an actual fabric quilt.

Thanks Merril. I can’t remember the source for this collage, but I was definitely thinking of quilts. I love that you saw it as fabric…wouldn’t cloud fabric be wonderful in a quilt?
When we stop asking questions we’re in trouble…

Blue is one of my favorite colors — probably most peoples’ favorite color since we learn to enjoy it early in observing the sky. It’s such a rich color to contemplate — in all its shades and forms. Much to learn inside its appearance. I can definitely understand blue as being like a ladder. You climb the ladder and can observe the view from up high.

I know from working in the garment center that blue is the best selling color, every year. A real sky ladder would be nice!

Great idea to hang on a skirt hanger. I may have to copy that.

That’s how I hung the embroidered newspaper, and it worked well. You can change the art easily too!

I love the technique and the composition, Method Two Madness. This is very close to a training I saw last week from the outside. Annie attended the training : http://destulipesetdescoeurs.blogspot.fr/2017/08/stage-avec-rayna-gillman-jours-1-et-2.html

My initial thought about your collage was: Brancusi. Don’t know exactly why, but it reminded me of his ‘Endless Column’. Nice!
