When parts are better than the whole

An abstract that I cropped. This little bit is better than the painting which is somewhat of a mess.

That’s the fun (for me) of messing with a picture on my phone. There were some interesting parts to this painting but on the whole it’s a fail. Too cluttered, too much going on. That’s why I like the snippet better.

I like the cropped version best too – it’s lovely. I often crop my art and photos to get a better composition….

It’s really fun to play around with the technology! It’s going to keep us all amused in our old age (which in my case is swiftly approaching).

I love the top strip as well, and that could be cropped to make another piece. (K)

We judge our own work too harshly.

I really like the background too…the four fifths of it starting from the right.

I actually like the whole! The sum of the parts don’t equal the whole ~ ☺️For me, it’s an interesting landscape. My eye focuses on the subject that you cropped, and the rest of the painting gives it a nice sense of place.

P.S. I feel like I am in a botanical garden, and I love those trees in the upper left, and all of the textures ~ such a nice palette of colors, too, in the whole.
