#16 The Tower

The Tower—
sudden chaos burns
illusion–
destruction
releases unbuilds the self—
the questions remain

Sue Vincent’s photo prompt this week, above, immediately reminded me of the tarot card for The Tower.  At one point I had an idea to do all the Major Arcana in collage–I’ve done the Fool a number of times, and also the Wheel of Fortune, but I never got any further than that.  Still, the symbols and imagery are always a rich source of inspiration.  And this card seems particularly apt for the state of the world right now.

Your image compliments the words–there’s destruction, but also magic, power, and creation. It’s full of energy. And yes, always questions, but that’s a necessary part of life.

Your poem is reflective of our world. Your art shows chaos but the movement pulls me around, its mezmerizing.

The tarot has been on my mind a lot lately, probably from having re-read Erin Morgenstern’s “The Night Circus”; I’m taking it as a sign that it’s a source of inspiration I should return to. Couldn’t agree more with The Tower’s appropriateness to our times, and yours is a very memorable interpretation.

I find that the effects of the tower omen always “unbuilds the self” in some form and forces one to look for deeper answers. Your art is very expressive of “sudden chaos.”

I like your art work and the poem. For me The Tower represents those times when everything I thought I knew about life is bought undone. Elements of the false self are suddenly revealed so that a more authentic way of being can emerge. Doesn’t mean it’s an easy process though!

You captured the chaos perfectly in storms — both human and nature created in your art and words.

Wow! Your monoprint is amazing! The ground around it looks like a moat with a sea of creatures. 😃
