If the circle opens, will it become a line? (almost like praying)

luna s

The arc of
lunar mountains, edged
dark with bays
of basalt…
Maria!—your names reflect
as mirrors to fill

with sorrow,
forgetfulness, snakes,
storms and fear.
Can we find
the sea of tranquility
and sail into dreams?

I discovered this week that the plural for luna mare (moon sea) is lunar maria …is that wonderful, or what?  So when I saw Sue Vincent’s Luna photo prompt, above, I had to incorporate it into my response.

I haven’t done collage in awhile, but what better excuse to get back to collage circles?

and of course I had to try arranging it with some of my monoprints.

As to the title–the question was inspired by Jane Dougherty’s response to this prompt.  And the second part…

And once again the poetic theme for November (courtesy of along the interstice) is shadorma.

“lunar mountains” – never really thought about the moon having mountains, their “arc” about a sea tranquility intriguing image to go along the splendid collages.
