Moondrunk
Bitter seas rip time
suspended in storms screaming
cravings of raw dreams
Let urges lie still—sleeping
on ships of moondrunk wishes
I haven’t consulted with the Oracle in awhile. No one I know is sleeping well these days–I like her advice. She graciously included the Secret Keeper’s words from this week as well.
I’m also connecting with dVerse Open Link Night.

Oooooo kerfe! I love this one. The art is absolutely breathtaking! How large is this piece? The words – for sure. Who sleeps well anymore? How I wish.

Thanks Jodi. It’s about 11 x 15 I think. It’s actually a monoprint (bottom) over a watercolor (top) with the ship collaged between.
Indeed, who sleeps well? It’s a mystery…

I love, “sleeping
on ships of moondrunk wishes.” Wonderful! And your painting is beautiful–but you know, my hopeful spin on things–the red the ship is sailing into looks like a heart to me. 🙂

I love that interpretation! I think it was hiding there when I put this together. The red just seemed right.

Wow…the oracle outdid herself this time….the poem and art are wonderful…I seem to be dreaming more lately. I didn’t know it was a trend.

Nice.
Dreams should be the escape from the storms screaming around us, but I’ve had a few that echo those storms. I prefer the moondrunk wishes.

You need dreams to keep your hopes alive. Get that ship out in the moonlight. Just let it sail free

Thanks Evelyn. Combining gouache with watercolor worked well for the texture. I’ll have to remember that!

Lovely! This is such a recognizable Oracle poem! She has a particular style and a fancy for unusual portmanteau words like moondrunk! The artwork is gorgeous 🙂

Thanks Jane. You’re exactly right. She pulls things out of us we might never find on our own. And I would never have made this piece without her words…

And they are always the same words! I haven’t counted how many you get in each set but it’s not that many, and each poem is different, even though it has the hallmark Oracle stamp to it.
