Koan Collage: Free Your Mind
Empty out
all those illusions
and just be
the deep blue
sea, the force of green earth, the
nothing, listening.
This collage koan was inspired by the dVerse prompt to respond to the wonderful art of Catrin Welz-Stein, above. I did my collage and poem before I looked on her website for the title of the art: “Free Your Mind”. Perfect.
I did this in two parts. First, the background, above (without words).
Then the top piece. I put them together and added the words.

What a wonderful prompt! Thanks Lillian and Catrin!
It is great to see the images separate and then put together…a very “free your mind” example.

That’s the fun and mystery of it all. 🙂

Love how you responded to this prompt in both your own collage/image and in response to Catrin’s image! So nice to see you here at dVerse and in particular, with this prompt.
Ah yes………the key is listening! Listening without preconceived ideas or perceptions. Open listening. Well put and a great response to the image.

I like the idea that when the illusions are gone we get the deep blue. It’s like cleaning a window.

I love how you responded to this prompt, Kerfe.
(Still kind of space and time though, right?) 🙂

It is! Thanks Merril. I could riff on any one of her art pieces. They all have an air of ambiguity and mystery.

Somehow this comment ended up in spam…which reminds me I should check it more often!
Anyway, thanks!

I love this. Expansive. Freeing. And beautiful to look at. I like the 3D nature of the visual portion.

Thanks Claudia. The art was very inspiring. And I have a drawer full of “junk” I’ve saved–the 3D part, from some kind of packaging for something, was just what I needed in this case.

Beautiful result! Love seeing the separate images… really gorgeous and loved “the… nothing, listening” 😍

I will have to check out the collage artist that you mentioned, Kerfe! Love how you did your collage in 2 parts and then merged them together. Brilliant! 💚

we fool ourselves with illusions… and of course, listening is rare these days!

lovely collage! to empty our heads and just be, and be still is very hard to accomplish but so rewarding when we do, gives us clarity and clarity is power eventually.

Thanks–it’s difficult, definitely. But also something to strive for.
