Year of the Dog
Every dog
has its day—top dog,
shaggy dog,
dirty dog–
everybody and their dog–
going to the dogs.
In dog years,
it’s a dog’s life. Put
on the dog,
hot dog, hot
diggety dog. Tail wagging
the dog. Lucky dog.
Walk the dog
and call off the dogs.
Teach the old
dog new tricks.
(on the internet no one
knows you’re dogging it).
I’m going with the prediction that this Brown Earth Dog year of 2018 will see a rise of social consciousness and environmental awareness, and the return of generosity and feelings of fellowship and community.
Our language is filled with phrases that include the word “dog”. I had fun stringing some of them together with a multi-patterned dog mask as accompaniment. And you can see my original post about Bliss, the dog pictured above, here.

Thanks Sharon. A dog year must be good, right?

Bliss says this is a “dog gone” good post Kerfe! She also thinks all dog art should be about her. Such a princess!

Thanks Bliss! (and you too Tim for translating). Her modeling carreer is assured, I think.

Thanks Janice. There was a bit of contradiction in the Chinese New Year predictions I read online, but let’s go with the optimistic one I say–we need a new start after spending the Year of the Rooster going to the dogs!

Most enjoyable! Hey, if I had a tail I’d wag it!

This was such a delight! hehe… Fantastic image and love all the dog expressions and hope along with you that your prediction comes true! 😍(Philippe is eagerly awaiting a set of two stamps from Vietnam because the dog depicted looks a bit like Phineas! hehe)

Thanks Charlie. I still save stamps I like too…(although I don’t think I have any from Vietnam)
Yes, let’s hope it comes true!

Awww–though my cats say it is not the year of the dog. 🙂
We may see a bit of a Chinese New Year’s parade today.

It’s always the year of the cat! I’ll have to figure out an occasion for a similar cat poem…
