Herding Cats
Got a blue blue car
in a black and white world,
Got that turquoise blue car
in a black and white world–
Gonna play it gonna drive it,
gonna give those tires a whirl.
Well a cat they likes to wander,
likes to ramble likes to roam.
Both the he-cat and the she-cat
needs to ramble and to roam.
If you ask them where they goin’,
they say “everywhere’s my home”.
Do you wanna rock and roll now–
Do you wanna take a ride?
Do you wanna tune this engine,
come and take a little ride?
We can meet up at the crossroads–
enter leave from either side.
Well the road goes on forever–
I can’t say where I’ll be bound.
You can just keep on forever,
can’t predict where you’ll be found.
Here’s a car and there’s a highway–
a big ole world that’s circlin’ round.
Got a blue blue car
in a black and white world,
Got that azure sky blue car
in a black and white world—
got the key in the ignition,
gonna make that engine purrrrrrrrr…
This was my (rejected, as usual) entry for Rattle’s Ekprastic challenge in February. The poems that were chosen were good, but quite serious. I found the photo to be much more playful…and did my own collage interpretation as well.
Am I back? I’m kind-of-moved, but still mostly in chaos. I’ve also got (paying) work pending, although they haven’t actually sent it to me yet. I will do my best for NaPoWriMo, and try to catch up with everyone at some point this month.
And thanks to Nina for filling in so beautifully!
An odd one
Happy Monday and the sun is shining today. I don’t know what to say about this painting. It’s just weird but I kind of like it anyhow.
A Posting Streak
Kerfe asked me to cover her during her move and I am pleased to say I’ve posted/painted every day this week.
Thank you for all the nice comments! Will answer to all over the weekend.
This one doesn’t seem done for some reason like maybe it needs more black. Posting it anyway!
A fabulous weekend to all. Some sun would be nice.
Gouache Resist
I turned one of these into a gouache resist. This is where you paint over the whole thing in Higgins Black Magic ink and then wash it off. Usually you paint thinking of doing the resist; this was just a random idea and it wasn’t all gouache underneath.
The gouache resist right after being washed off.
The image in black and white which is interesting.
Landscape
Still playing around with color. Not sure if this one is done but I’m on a roll of posting and wanted to continue it. Got another one going too. Can’t wait to get home (we are leaving work at 1:00) and slosh some more paint around. Hope this snow doesn’t last but they’re saying it will.
Painting (continued)
I’m not sure this is finished even though I signed it. I’ve had a few things going painting-wise and hope to keep the momentum going.
Couple of close ups of parts of the painting I like.
I messed with the top image in editing it. That’s why it doesn’t even look like the same painting : ).
Painting 3/19/19
I’ve been painting a lot more. These take a couple of days ’cause layering/wet paint. I have another one started. They seem to be a more intuitive or free association kind of painting with the sole purpose of working on something!
I’ll try and finish the other to post Wednesday.
Living Color
I don’t know if it’s the new moon or spring approaching but I had in my head to just start splashing color around and see where it took me. This is watercolor, gouache and Black Magic ink. I kind of like it and it was fun to work on.
Draw-a-Bird Day: Birdlings are Back
The Motions of Molecules
Appearing
suddenly,
the patterns compose
themselves. Shapes
of silence. Supplicants to
the definitive.
This will be my last post for awhile. Continuing my nomadic life, I will be moving uptown 10 blocks.
The birdlings will be coming along.
And I plan on being back for NaPoWriMo. It’s just around the corner…
Progress 3/7/18
Some progress on the drawing. I almost like it like this but I think I’m going to give the ladies some color on their frocks.
I looked up old phones like the one on the desk. I really don’t think the photo is that early but it’s possible I guess.
It’s a snow day here. I’m pretty happy about that.
