May Day
Breath held, returning
we rise, dance the beginning
open to the sun.
Spiraling blessings hum wind,
blood lines quickening, bowing.
For Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday, with synonyms for sing and celebrate. This painting/embroidery is one of the Joan Mitchell inspired pieces I was working on for NaPoWriMo and didn’t finish. So it’s still in progress. I will definitely complete this one, but the rest may be put on hold (along with a pile of others…)
I’m feeling at loose ends, and I need to put my work space in order so I can find what I’m looking for. Still many boxes unopened as well. Time to regroup…but May is starting out with plenty of sunshine! That feels good.

Oh wow, this post is stunning! I love the loose ends! But, not on the work table 🙂

I love the motion in this and the dance of nature feeling. The art is beautiful. It looks finished to me–the strands make me think of some sort of sun-water rays flowing and drifting out.

Thanks Merril. I was originally going to stitch it all, but I like the contrast. I may do a little more, then I want to do something in the center.

I love your art work – it is exquisite. I hope you leave all those loose ends. They really make the piece.

Thanks Charlotte. So many people like it as it is, I may not add too much. I do want to do something in the center though.

The tie-die effect of flowing shades of blue and purple is such a beautiful visual. The loose ends remind me of the dancing wind. Wonderful piece of art, Kerfe. ❤

I understand the need to tie up those loose ends…
Your art is stunning as always, Kerfe! The colors are striking and I like how its incompleteness feels complete somehow? Does that make sense?
My life seems filled with too many unfinished projects these days. I’m hoping May will bring some time to tidy up. 😉

I’m hoping for that too, but so far it’s been a struggle…

I have to be in the right mood… and sometimes I will give myself an time limit, like clean for 1 hour. Getting started seems so overwhelming at first for me. 😃
