Waves
ocean
vast, rhythmic
gathering, devouring, relinquishing
lunar compass that weaves
tides
This didactic cinquain is in response to Colleen’s tanka Tuesday prompt words, give and receive, and Sue Vincent’s photo prompt of waves, below.
My art at the moment is very round. This mandala is watercolor, which was then monoprinted with acrylic, and watercolored again.

Thanks Victoria. Unfortunately I missed my beach vacation this year, but the ocean is one of my favorite places.

Spectacular artwork and I love your cinquain. I feel like your artwork reflects the wheel of life and your poetry compliments the circle. Well done!! ā¤

Thanks Colleen. Your word choice seems a perfect match to Sue’s photo! I am definitely feeling that wheel at the moment.

Circles and cycles and the sea–yes, it’s all tied together, isn’t it? I love the motion in your words and art.

This is a great response to these two prompts. I like the way you have taken the word prompt and the image prompt and woven them into a work which is so completely reflects your own authentic creative expression.

Thanks Suzanne. Your words are especially meaningful as I was feeling kind of directionless and had a lot of false starts with this. The ocean is always a good place to begin anything, though.

I’m feeling pretty much the same way creatively at present. š Maybe I need to go and stare at the ocean – I’ll make time to do that over the weekend.

Round is the way to go š The third line is powerful in both meaning and in the ocean sound it creates.

I liked the idea of the moon weaving tides. It does seem like what it is doing with the waving back and forth. Also nice watercolor at the top. The perfect circle holds together all those wilder colors.

Thanks Frank. I struggled with the exact words for the idea I had, and I’m glad my idea of weaving resonated with you.

HI Kerfe -I like that there is a little color spilling out from the contained circle, it’s like dipping your toe in the ocean. The art and words inspire me today.
