besieged
gathering like fire,
these memories leave me swept
on abandoned shores–
I disintegrate in words
trying to unspell the past
For Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday, with synonyms for congregate and passion.
Memory is indeed a tricky thing.

I love your art and words today. Lately, I have had lots of solitude and surprising memories are flooding back.

Thanks Sharon. It’s funny how something can trigger a memory seemingly out of the blue. It’s like a window waiting to be opened.

Yes, that is a very good way of describing those moments of memory.

Can we unspell the past? Perhaps our perception of it, if that’s what is needed. Not to say that we should deny it, rather find comfort in the positive and decide not to perpetuate the negative.

Thanks Ken. I don’t know the answer to that either. It’s not helpful to become mired in things we can’t change. But is it better to forget?

It is not better to forget. I think it’s about a frame of mind, but how to resolve that… There’s no way to know each individual experience.

I like that unspell could mean to unwrite or it could mean to unenchant.
