Falling. 8/16/2018

Another abstract just playing with color and shape. It’s fun to do these, layering drips and color while shapes reveal themselves to me.

A couple of closeups. There’s some good painting in here if I do say so myself.

I’ve been painting in my husband’s messy office upstairs, at a repurposed computer desk. It’s not ideal but it’s as good a place as any. Plus I’m messing up the desk and floor with paint so maybe I can eventually take it over as a studio.

I really love this direction you are going. I can’t express exactly how I feel but the paintings you are doing recently seem to have a balance between order and chaos and you are right on the line between them, this makes them really dynamic, I think. And your colors. I also like your subtle way of taking over a room with your paint, and soon it will be your own…

Yessss. Exactly what Claudia said and I wasn’t sure how to articulate but that is it – a dynamic balance between chaos and order and amazing color! You are really rocking it lately Nina. Such strength and confidence in the paintings!!!!

This looks fun! I did an acrylic abstract in my art workshop last night. It was an acrylic pour method. We put some acrylics in a cup and then put the canvas on top and then flipped it. When the paint seemed to be out of the upside down cup, we took the canvas by the corners and let it ‘run’ to the edges. It was fun watching the different shapes emerge and then change into something else. The technique is all over Pinterest. I love how your shapes emerged.

The composition and the colour remind me so much of Matisse and the Mediterranean paintings of the Fauvists. I love this!
