disembodied s

It lies shallow on this earth.
It is found in what is left behind.
It cannot be contained.

It welcomes no fire to undarken the night.
It shelters the breath of absence.
It lies shallow on this earth.

It opens to what is not there.
It stands silent like the shadow of a scream.
It is found in what is left behind.

It has no name,
this collection of bones–
it cannot be contained.

For Sue Vincent’s photo prompt, above.  The poem is another cascade.

I’ll never look at an abandon building the same, your art and words stir my imagination.

Lovely and terrifying! The last detail reminds me of a Caspar David Friedrich painting of trees on a wintry mountain.

This is fabulously creepy–words and image(s). Of course, I also think the word “disembodied” is creepy, so I was predisposed to read the poem that way. 🙂

Nice take on the prompt. Quite sinister, in fact.

Mysterious and potent words, K. I love your art… it looks like marrow leaking from a cross section of a bone. Lol. I think your poem has given me the shivers.

Now this I really like – subdued, Daguerreotype-type pictures and your restrained, resonant lines.
