Nominal

nominal s

Confronting
myself—not body,
but spirit–
spiraling,
I blur the words I don’t say–
what was never there

opening
the invisible
curtain that
expands like
an accordion centered
in my chest, wedged tight

bottom to
top, inside to out,
convergence
of sum and
substance, lost cells mutating
into veins of lead–

Consider
the near misses, the
quick and the
dead, the straight
and narrow, the steps always
wrongly directed–

If I could
state the obvious–
if I could
fill in the
blanks—if I could fly over
the rainbow—what then?

There might be music to open those folds, bring them back to life.

If I may suggest: the ability of flying over rainbows will make one more famous than one could handle – invisibility during these feats is highly recommended!

I love this art that accompanies this wonderful poem. It looks like you could peel layers from it, but then you would discover if you are invisible or not.

Beautiful brain scans…and I love your use of enjambment!

I love your use of ready-made phrases, quick and the dead, flying over the rainbow etc. They are somehow the obvious that hides real meaning that we have to look for with our own eyes.

I think you are already flying over the rainbow today, Kerfe. Happy day!

Oh, gosh, Kerfe. This is so beautiful–like a dream. I love the enjambment– just flying from line to line–but what then indeed? My question, too. 🙂

    Love the art, too.

The thought of filling the voids to me is about making invisible visible.
