misdirections s

here or there
and then what?  so far
so up–then
down, between
lost and left behind–climbing
the chutes, the ladders,

the maybes
and the knotted, the
ready and
the not yet,
the pointless and the lines drawn
in the sand…which way?

misdirections close up s

A nonsense quadrille for dVerse using the word “up”.

Nice last two lines, especially pointless and lines drawn.

Awesome poem, M and yes everything up and down or wherever the lines take you. Your paintings are always too good.

Good question. We are offered so many possibilities and most of them are equally futile. But the colours are pretty 🙂

Maybe not such nonsense–the way many feel. (The first stanza mad me think of Alice in Wonderland.)

I see birds flying in your art….so I’m going to say follow the birds for direction.

I see your art as thoughts, expanding and dissolving without resolution, much like your poem.

Can’t beat a bit of Rorschach-style art, accompanied by your thoughtful symmetrical poem

Maybe “nonsense,” but your words complement the visuals so well.

I see an explosion and it’s kind of scary. I then read your poem in that context and I got the sense of, what will happen when it all comes back to earth? I may have really gone off in a tangent here, but the combination of art and words really spoke to me.

Thanks Claudia. When I wrote the words it just seemed kind of nonsensical, but then it started to make sense in the context of a lot of different things. You could definitely see it as a metaphor for the state of the world. I picked the art because it seemed to go with the words, and I’m glad the pairing makes sense to you too.

Always love seeing a close-up of your art pieces. “Which way?” can be a tough question, especially if one feels lost or left behind.

Chutes and Ladders… reminds me of being a kid and how life seemed so full of possibilities! I also like Sharon’s idea of birds! 🐦💕

No nonsense for me. All very well rounded, words and art.
