Draw a Bird Day: Seagull
voices in waves
sea calling gathering in
cadenced desire
Seagulls and pigeons are the main birds I see from my window. But I hear robins every morning, and crows have started to visit the neighboring roofs as well.
This is a multiple poem posting for both Colleen’s #TankaTuesday (poet’s choice of words) and Frank Tassone’s “#Haikai Challenge #133 (twittering). Seagulls do not twitter, so I wrote the lines above.
I’ve been wanting to try a gogyoka, so for that I put in a little twittering.
sky wakes
with birds twittering dawn
stirring clouds
scattering colors
across each uncharted day
Once again I’m posting for Draw a Bird Day as a place keeper for MeMadTwo until Nina gets back. I’m doing NaPoWriMo at https://kblog.blog/

I like words and drawings, especially the gogyoka. The birds waking and colors and clouds moving across “an uncharted day.”

My first gogyoka. Took a lot of pruning to get it to work. And a lot of other words before uncharted stuck.

uncharted is a good word

It is. Can’t write without a thesaurus.

Lovely post, Kerfe. The second poem captures the daily magic of dawn with a gentle paucity of words. And I love the movement of the gulls, which I see every day, “voices in waves”, the perspective of the first drawing and the wonderful wing and tail position of the last gull. 😊

Thanks Myriam. Every residence has its birds. Seagulls are the ones I see and hear most in this apartment.

Excellent poem, Marta and lovely paintings too with a pencil. The first three were too good.

Birds in flight! Beautiful & exhilarating, K. Was the top drawing done in chalk pastels? Lovely gogyoka.

Thanks Rose. Colored pencil. It takes on new dimensions when you draw on black.

So pretty, Kerfe, and you capture their flight beautifully. The return of the birds is always the first sign of spring around here. 🙂

Now seagulls are a rarity in Arizona. But pigeons are everywhere. 🙄

Your a wonderful poet. Maybe I should start using thesaurus too from now on, stock knowledge is not reliable at all times. LOL.
By the way, I am a new blogger and I just recently, I made a challenge to myself. For the next 21 days I will be visiting blog put its blog link on my blog. I hope you can support me this.
I also followed your blog.

Thanks. Yes a thesaurus is good.
The best way to build a following is to visit the same bloggers you like frequently and comment. That way you build up a relationship. If you are a poet I suggest participating in the prompts at dverse poets, or other prompt sites where you also interact with the same bloggers on a regular basis.

If I have a favorite bird, it would be the Sea Gull without question. They don’t stray far from home and I am close enough to the Mediterranean that they stop by and visit on the days I don’t get down there… You do them proud.
