water music
sea reaches
toward land
waves form patterns
mermaid songs rising falling
on currents of air
I used the photo supplied by Sally Cronin, above, for Colleen’s #tanka Tuesday gogyohka. The colored pencil drawing is one of water currents I did earlier this year. I meant to do more of these, but it requires a focus I just don’t have right now.
Also posting on dVerse Open Link Night, hosted by Mish.

Great post. There’s a brilliant book called Water Music by T.C. Boyle about the explorer Mungo Parks in his quest to find where the River Congo meets the ocean.

I heard the haunting refrains of the mermaids in this poem, Kerfe. When I first looked at the image my first thought was “mermaid’s jewelry!” Excellent. ❤

How lovely. Your poem really suits the photos. Your drawing is very peaceful but I can understand your inability to do such focused work right now. I feel the same way.

Thanks Suzanne. I’m not sure when focus will return.

No… I’m de-cluttering hoping that opens the way to the new 😊

Not a bad idea no matter where it leads. But too much stuff definitely gets in the way.

All waters contain water creatures. We don’t always see them though.

When we do we make wild stories up about them though 🙂
