Draw a Bird Day: Rainbow Songbird

nina draw a bird aug 8

Nina’s internet has been out since the tropical storm, with no promises of when it will be back, so she took a photo on her phone of her bird and sent it to me to post.  Another colorful tribute to Draw a Bird Day!

And hopefully her internet will be back soon so she can post more of what she’s been doing.

Birds always seem pretty happy to me. Only time I saw two sad ones was when my little Fat Albert pine got knocked down in a storm and two baby mourning doves were walking around in a daze having been knocked out of their nest and a cat was watching them. N.

Now this sounds like a story waiting to be told. In art or in words, it is full of suspense, and also, it touches my heart, did those small birds whose lives had just started, did they get their chance to go on? You wonder, don’t you?

Funny, lately I’ve been thinking about writing something. So many little stories like that in my long life. I saw the birds the next day on the other side of the house. I think I even did a post about it (that tree had a lot of birds living in it; it was a memorial tree for my dog Woody who died around 1994).
I’ve always thought I had a book in me. I also know I am a lazy procrastinator who doesn’t live up to her potential.

You need a pushy editor. I can do pushy, maybe not so much good at editing! If you write a book, how about a collection of recollections? Short to write (and selfishly, I really enjoy reading that kind of thing, I will buy a copy).

Actually I did a book of recollections via a gift from my daughter, called Storyworth. They would send me suggestions and I’d write a story. Also sent photos etc and then they bound it into a cute little volume. (I don’t think daughter ever read it. It was a nice gift though. She gave husband one too but he never did it).

Well, I think you’re on to something. I think the best recollections are the little things, not like graduations and weddings but everyday things, that is what if I were doing a book of recollections, I would be interested in doing (or reading someone else’s. Maybe I am just nosy).
