Pandemic Painting (10/5/20)
A painting that started out as something else and became another of these painting with three figures: unintentional. I am sheltering in place with my husband and daughter and somehow the three configuration gets into my painting.
I hope everyone has a good week. Nina

My family was three, too. I did artwork representing us many times. It seemed important to me. Now he is grown and has his own family of three and I’m back to two. That’s ok too. I love the inclusion of homes for the three of you. A village for your family.

Yet it is not deliberate. This one started with three swoops that looked too rainbow-y. I was going to make fairy houses and then it turned into bird houses with cutout birds. Anyway, I’m having some kind of creative glimmer and will just go with it.

This is so great to read about. The serendipities that lead an artwork along and surprise you. I love the fresh happy feeling of your recent works, this one especially.

Hey Nina, I like the ‘f’ holes in one of your bird houses. To me, that is a musical reference; also, since you mention it is a pandemic painting, I think of going coo-coo with sheltering in place, thus see your birds inhabiting cuckoo clock/houses.

We are going a bit crazy. I used to play the cello and the f-holes just seemed like a good idea. I had a lot of fun with this one. Thanks Jack. N.

…..it hits me like how I used to be as a kid when staying up way too late, or getting overly energized–a cross between still having fun while feeling a little frantic and frazzled. IOW, it conveys the feeling we have in being confined yet blessed with a home to nest in.

Frantic and frazzled is a good description of how I’m feeling lately. Art calms me down. Having a roof over my head is a big help. Thanks, N.
