Weekend Work 5/17/2021

Another one done with a piece of the Marimekko shirt from Uniqlo that I cut up. I guess the rib cage just pops out to me and the painting turns into a person

This was one posted a couple of weeks ago. Another person!

I don’t think this is finished but I like it. Will do more with markings in white first. Again, this looks like a face. It may wind up something else.

I haven’t had a lot of time lately as my employer is short staffed and they’re using me more (more than I’d like, really). Proud to say the regional medical group I work for has given 20,000 Covid shots!

Have a good week, everyone! Nina

I think when you start with the black background you start out ahead. They look seasoned. Very nice, Nina.

The teeth in the second one really grabbed me. Wow, I love all these. The brilliant colors and all the patterns working together are just beautiful.

Thank you as always, Claudia. I have a pretty good collection of these black paintings. Might try to take a photo of all of them. N.

I would like to see them together. I believe you have a thread going here, that is for sure, one that is stong. I really love what you are doing and each one, I am interested to see what symbols and interpretations you encourage me to see, as well as just the beauty of the images.

I’m off tomorrow; I’ll pick a good wall and hang a bunch up. I’m thinking of framing a few of the better ones–one for Kerfe’s new apartment.

          • Claudia McGill says :

Yes. They are frame-worthy all right. I know Kerfe would be thrilled. I know I keep saying this but I feel a sense of optimism come into my heart when I see the work you are doing these days. It started with the rocks and now it has bloomed into this collection of paintings.

I love your art! I don’t know what to say exactly … vibrant? energic? colorful? exuberant? imaginative? creative? should I continue? It is all of this at the same time! every piece is good work.

    • memadtwo says :

Yes, please continue! I am liking these paintings on black paper too. Haven’t been as productive as I’d like but I have a pretty good collection of them and thank you for your enthusiastic words which are much appreciated. N.
