green park red doors

There is nothing else than now. There is neither yesterday, certainly, nor is there any tomorrow. How old must you be before you know that?
Ernest Hemingway (For Whom the Bell Tolls,1940)

cocooned in green light
I am nowhere but right here
dappled by these trees

Central Park right now is green, green, green.

Jade at dVerse asked us to choose one of the Hemingway quotes she provided and write a poem in response. I shortened the quote for my short response.

And because it’s Thursday, I’m including some firehouse doors from new and old neighborhoods. Firefighters are very much aware of the nowness of life.

Although I think you could make the case for doors in the Central Park photos as well…

Your can add your own doors and see many others at Thursday Doors.

I like walking through Central Park (when I’m in the city) so thanks for sharing a few views. I love firehouses, so these doors are perfect. Have a great day!

I love the glimpses into history, Kerfe. The firehouse doors and buildings hold many tales, I’m sure. Central Park looks similar to the trails near my house. I love the green trees! After Arizona and the stark heat of the desert, I find the “dappled” walkways so refreshing. ❤

I love your haiku and that you were in the middle of such a welcoming happy place when you were inspired to write the words. So glad you got out and about and shared greenery, architexture, and doors. Did you see one firehouse door is #47 and the other one is #74? What are the odds? Those are good numbers also. (I can’t explain what I mean by good.)

Thanks Jade. I like the word architexture. Would be good to describe fiber sculpture.
I only noticed the numbers when I was posting. I think it’s a good omen. Neighborhood #47 was good to me. They add up to 11, which is a number I like. Why? I have no idea, but as you say, it feels good.
And all this green…I can’t get enough of it.

Beautiful–to be right there seems to be the right place to be. I love the words and the photos. The pathway at the top looks like it could go on forever.
