Thursday Doors: House on West End Avenue

I’ve always liked this house on West End Ave. The entrance is on the side.

I couldn’t get a straight on angle to photo the door. It has nice details on the top and in the surrounding arch.

And here’s some flowers I saw while walking along Columbus Avenue.

You can see more doors and join in here.

I like it too: looks straight out of a classic movie to me (all I know of New York, I’m afraid!)

I love that, a classic standing against the onslaught of the new and modern but I’d hate to live in that spot!! 🙂

I agree Janet. It’s a shame they built huge apartment buildings all around it. I’m not sure if it’s landmarked, but many blocks are now, so they couldn’t do that anymore.

That’s a wonderful house. I like the side entrance, and I really like the curved corner, including that balcony!

Such details on this one. I especially liked those in the arch… a solid looking building. Nice capture🙂

A beautiful door. They don’t make them like that anymore. ❤

The building has extra character given to it by virtue of the fact that it’s surrounded by soulless blocks of modern architecture that loom over it. The other buildings become the sterile backdrop, and all the color is in the small, classic building.

Lovely house, Kerfe. It reminds me of some in Philadelphia.
