Thursday Doors: You’ve Got a Friend

fraternal
or identical–
paired support–
transitions
of serendipity and
synchronicity

I made a folder of all my arched door photos and noticed there were a number of paired ones, some identical and some not. I like the Jizo statues (at least that’s what I think they are) on the right steps of the top photo. That’s also a very handsome door.

Two different approaches–the one on the left here is looking for more privacy. On the right they painted their railings to match the door.

These modern doors don’t live up to the wonderful surround–I especially like the faces at the top of the arches.

And here’s a pair of arched windows on a beautiful building in sad disrepair.

I’ve written a shadorma to accompany the doors. And the title? I was listening to JT this morning. He still sounds good.

And, as always, visit Dan Antion the host of Thursday Doors, here to see more doors and share your own.

I didn’t notice the Jizo statues until you pointed them out. So many varied and lovely doors.

I really enjoyed these photos, and generally enjoy your door photos, Kerfe – and your words form such a beautiful duet with the images…

I love this song! I made a mix tape for my driving instructor and this was the last song. He got married while instructing me. We had a great time. I passed on my first try. Happiest I ever was. And your door couples are magnificent. Thank you for the them, and the poem too.

I love these “friend” doors. Maybe they talk to each other.
Those faces over the two bottom sets are wonderful.

Great take! You are so right. About JT, and also that those modern doors do not live up to their surround. I would love to walk around these neighborhoods with young math students and examine symmetry and geometry.

I like doors like this the best when they are a little different. Identical, but personalized. I’m not a fan of the modern versions, but so often, that’s all we get.

I lover your door posts! Every time I see them it reminds me of a story, I heard a long time ago. Somewhere in the UK where all the row houses look the same, they decided to paint the doors different colors so drunk husbands would stumble into the correct door and not accidentally stumble into bed with someone else’s wife. Hahaha

    Lovely photos, Kerfe. Admirable.
And I’ve been singing this song lately. It’s on repeat in my head.
    Thanks again.

I must admit to liking symmetry, Kerfe, the identical twins. 🙂 Beautiful buildings that deserve beautiful doors.

Didn’t think about this before, but builders can do much about the kind of connection we have with neighbors!
The left of the first door, is that a reflection of a painting?
