Arches with Wooden Doors (Thursday Doors)
vaulted tree spirits
bridges of transformation
gateways of between

There is something solid, welcoming, and protective about a wooden door, made even more inviting by an arched doorway.
These are just a few I’ve collected while wandering around the Upper West Side.
I really like the ornamentation on the bottom of the stair railings here.
Find more doors and join in with your own with host Dan Antion, here.
Beautiful. One can imagine the tree spirits.
Were those ghost doors once doorways?

Thanks Merril. I could not find any history about the building. The entrance inside is a narrow hallway with stairs, so I wonder if they were originally doctor’s offices, and when they converted them to apartments they closed off the outside doors. Or it may have originally been a grand lobby that was closed off when the building became less grand,

I also like wooden doors, Kerfe. The doors in my house all look like these ones and are nearly 100 years old.

I love these wooden doors AND also doors and windows and steps. It is a kind of city not much seen here in my part of the West coast. PS. Not sure of my untrustworthy memory, but think some comments I wrote got lost somehow. Real point being – you are appreciated. neil

There’s a cracker of a wooden door with iron hinges at the cloisters. I expect you know it.
