Rosh Hoshana/weekend work

Today is Rosh Hoshana, the Jewish New Year and beginning of the High Holy Days. We will spend the day quietly; it is a beautiful day and my husband and I will take a walk soon. I am fervently hoping for peace in our troubled nation and in the world.

I’ve been working on canvas board lately, using elements cut out of other (failed) paintings and creating collages. The boards take glue well and also gouache and acrylic paint. I showed the top one to a neighbor and she thought it looked like Alaska, so I gave it that title.
I hope everyone has a good week. Nina
I like your work and for some reason – the second one looks like Arizona to me! And I looked for a bit
Also – the top one does feel Alaska like and good work there

I love what you did with the collage, Kerfe. I love the colors and contrast. The placement of curves among other shapes leads my eyes around the entire canvas. Beautifully done.
I know collages are hard work. I make my book covers and they are image collages. Hugs on the wing.

The title works. The colors are reminiscent of indigenous art of the northwest. I like the flowyness of the compositions.

Flowyness=good descriptor! It really did look like a glacier and some structures to me. N.

Happy “Rosheshana”. (I’d never seen it written before. That’s the spelling I thought it was.)
And yes, may your New Year bring some peace everywhere…

Likewise. I was just thinking that between some Chinese friends in Singapore and Malaysia who celebrate the Chinese New Year around mid-February and you, my year has just been reduced to half. LOL.

I like that title, it fits. I like the fullness of the work, the yellow and blue together, and I swear the golden object in the center looks like an orenda (soul.)

I love your work! It’s inspired me to try gouache and collage on board – I’ve only tried paper.
