The Green Door (Thursday Doors)

It’s not black and white.  But is it whimsical, or serious?  Is that a lock? Is there a key?  Magic words?  Please?  Somehow that doesn’t seem like enough

I want to form those intersecting lines into a map.  Surely it was drawn deliberately, that triangular pattern.  The power of threes.  Animal vegetable mineral?  Past present future?  Mind body spirit?

What do the strange messages graffitied on the surface of the glass mean?  Can anyone enlighten me?  The numbers lack clarity–nebulous, impossible to calculate.

And what is that hum that seems to be taking over my mind?

lost continents lost
languages—are they portals?
Where is my third eye?

Thursday Doors holds a writing challenge in May. Doors from the last year’s posts are submitted, and we are invited to write a story, poem, or hybrid of some sort based on one of the photos. For my first one, I’ve chosen Manja’s mysterious green door, above.

I also used some of the Oracle 2 words from this week’s Random Word Generator list.

And here’s a bonus collage appropriately called “The Power of Three”. Perhaps that’s what is on the other side of the Green Door.

Dan Antion is the host of Thursday Doors.

You and I are on a similar track, Kerfe. I am working on a short story based on this door, and I have some of the same questions. What I love about poetry is how you can distill a wide range of thoughts into a relative few words. This is very well done. Thanks for supporting both challenges.

Ahh, what a lovely surprise! You took my green door to another level. How great to see that it has tickled your third eye. Hummmm? What hum? 😉 (And Dan is writing a story for this door, too. Most excellent!)

I love your response to Dan’s door writing challenge. The art of the doors reminds me of geometry, but since I am a sci-fi fan, I like the idea of a portal…entering a space-time continuum where everyone has an angle. 😉

Well that’s different. Like/dislike have so little to say. But attend the burr under the saddle is both right and wise, even when the answer is less apparent. What? Yea, just like those doors. Angular (too human?) is not how I care to see. I think it’s a choice. Meaning nothing except, yea, it’s a choice. Fork, not spoon, in the road. See what angular does for me? Reason enough. Thanks Kerfe.

You’ve articulated the mystery of the door well, Kerfe, and a cool painting as a companion to it.

I’ve slid past this post in my reader about 4 times, never feeling like I had the time to really get into it all. The image has the compelling color and you capture the mystery of it all so well. I must confess, I zoomed in a good bit and saw the recognizables. The ISIS on the bottom right was the trigger – try wingdings / webdings for the source, if you are really interested.
Excellent post! Love what you do

Love the collage! Can’t say the same of the doors. Looks like insanity, to me. Even the graffiti looks like the crazy door attracted more chaos. 😜

That’s an interesting response to the door. I like a certain amount of chaos myself. Puzzles, riddles, mystery–I’m attracted to all of them.

Haha, interesting! I absolutely love puzzles, riddles, and mystery! We have that in common. But I also love architecture, and this really stretches my boundaries on that one. I’m trying to think would it be better in another color, etc. etc., perhaps. I don’t know, it is not something I would gravitate toward. It’s different, that’s for sure! 😉💕

What an interesting door, Kerfe. I find it oddly disturbing for some reason… everything about it. For me, your poem reflected that disquiet. Fascinating.

Interesting geometric patterns on the door here. Your poem aptly puts the picture in words. I’ve been enjoying reading the writeups for the writing challenge. Very creative!
